SCALE MODEL MEDIC - By Jon Hayward

Welcome to my blog. I'm Jon Hayward, but I go by the name of Scalemodelmedic when I'm youtubing modelling videos.

Painting and weathering models on video takes a long time and I can't cover everything, so this blog will serve as my home on the web where I can post my latest pictures from the bench.

Depending on how this blog is received I may make it a little extension of the youtube channel, posting tips and little how-to guides, but in the meantime please just have a browse and enjoy the pictures.

Facebook

Search Facebook for Scalemodelmedic and hit "like"...I'm on there much more often than on here. I have taken on a project doing some video work, hence why the channel hasn't had any attention. Sorry folks but I'm literally working two jobs and don't have enough time to make free content for youtube. I'll be honest I considered stopping all together at one point as this year has had some real ups and downs, but it's getting better so I'll carry on :) Plus the videos still help people. Even after two years I still get messages from people who only just found them.

2012 Arrives but I got left behind...

My father passed away on New Year's Eve 2011

The greatest man I ever knew just left this place, and in just sixty four years created so many memories for so many people.

He was a born entertainer and truly talented and it is because of him that I do what I do - including modelling.

The grief has taken the steam out of modelling for me right now I will admit, but it will return (and in greater numbers)

until then...

I'm Married!

So I got married, had a great honeymoon in Rome and Sorrento, and now I'm back in grey, windy England with a few gig of footage from my last filming session to edit together to make Boxcar part 3.

The voiceover is completed, I'm just putting voice to video and then it'll be a case of rendering, proof-watching and setting the upload running.

The next videos are a mystery even to me. I have no idea where to go from here! so many ideas, but so little time! Man... I need to quit WORK and do this full time! Sadly it wouldn't pay the bills :(

So watch this space for movement... it's about time I got busy huh ;)

Train Nearly Finished!

OK OK so another sneak preview... I couldn't resist. I had too much fun doing this, it was a blast, but it was high pressure stuff - I had one chance to get it right and there were enough different stages where a mistake could be made. Luckily I pulled it off and the SMM tag is now on :)

Paint pens are for wimps - airbrushed gradients are where it's at ;)

ALSO - Like the Scalemodelmedic facebook page ! I just got started on there so I can use it like the blog to post updates and stuff.

CHALLENGER 2

This Challenger 2 had been sitting round on my shelf for literally years when suddenly I pulled it down and filmed the answers to a few questions I'd had in my inbox.

This "FAQ" video will try to answer

1. Painting over existing paintjobs
2. Priming
3. 2-tone camo
4. Paint blends including thinning for fine lines
5. Decal application

OR SO I HOPE !

Editing now.... should be online later this week

A bit of a journey of discovery...

Hello all, sorry for the long delay.

Up until very recently I had been feverishly trying to complete a build for the 2011 SMA big spring contest.

ALAS - this time I must bow out, a victim of time and circumstance. All is not lost however, because I've learned a whole lot and also had time to reflect on my experience. It's time I knuckled down and gave this whole thing a proper go.

I will be approaching it all with fresh enthusiasm :) we'll see what happens then.
